CATCH UP. (10/04/14)

It’s Thursday today, I’m back in Resipole, My name is Adrian. I’m feeling good. I know where I am, who I am and what day it is.

On Sunday I was rudely awakened from my siesta by one hell of a din and the dogs barking their heads off.

_MG_3344  A Royal Navy Sea King on Medivac duties. They use the field next to the camper for transferring poorly folk from ambulances to helicopters. No wonder they use this monster. They nearly had to take me as well. I was thankful I had my new fast drying walking trousers on.

Monday we drove the five miles or so down to Strontian for a couple of days.

_V0G8414_5_6_fused    Strontian has a pub, a shop and a cafe. The pub was shut, I used the shop and didn’t bother with the cafe though it looked fine.

I got back to Resipole yesterday but it was very wet. This morning dawned reasonably dry and windless so I set off to try and find an Otter or anything else of interest. I ended up with more rainbows.

_MG_3365 I was happy to get a rainbow reflection. It is not looking good for tomorrow but I’ll macro some tiny Periwinkles if the weather is really bad.

That’s all for today.

  1. Have a great day Adrian. We are on cyclone watch ~ a huge category 5 cyclone due to hit tomorrow night.

    1. Carol, batten down the hatches and stay in. I went to Grenada years ago on Hurricane relief and a week after we were finding folk chopped up by wriggly tin sheets. They didn't half stink after a week.

  2. The cafe in Strontian is pretty good. I've eaten there a couple of times. It's nothing special of course, but reasonably priced warm food when it's blowing a gale and throwing it down outside is always welcome.

    1. Mark it is the advantage of the camper. I can buy food and save a shilling. It did look okay though.

  3. Fairfax and I HATE helicopters. Another one nearly got us this morning, flying directly overhead. We both prefer rainbows.

    1. Frances, it is a problem relating to horses. Things we regard as normal; Fairfax.....I bet a pound to shilling he's called Fairy.....He thinks are dangerous. Lunge him and get an 'elicopter to shower him with apples, carrots and none dusty hay. A week of that and he'll chase them. If you can't afford the food or the Helicopter swap him for a Ducati or a Fireblade.

  4. Fast drying walking trousers are an indication of man's ingenuity and God's goodness. Helicopters landing next to one's camper, however well-intended their mission, are clearly from the Devil.

Who would have thought you'd be having the time of your life at 64?

    1. Bob, they are an indication of my incontinence. Were god good I wouldn't need them.
I have pictures of the Medivac. It's not nice being old and it is worse if you are seen shrouded in nothing but your birthday suit. Para- Medics here are not trained to piss about with folks feelings. It's a matter of offloading fast before they die on you.

    2. PS. This is me retiring from life. I would love to be skiing or ice climbing.

    1. Two pots Bob and they are all mine. I have more money than Maria Miller and like her I found it just lying and lying about.

  6. Cafe Sunart? Shouldn't it be Sunart Cafe? They've got the words the wrong way round in my humble opinion. If you were the proprietor you could rename it "Ade's Place" or better still "Live Ade" or "Band Ade Cafe" with enlarged scenic photos - by yourself - decorating the walls.

    1. Funny enough, I was thinking along similar lines. I'd like a cafe. I'm posh I'd call it 'Cafe de Aids'.

  8. You should've tried and blagged a trip in that helicopter for some aerial photography:o)
    Loving the rainbow shots.

    1. Douglas, it would be good but I suspect they have rules about joy riding. Unless your name is Airmiles Andy.
The rainbow was good this morning.

  9. If you're getting rainbow photos, it must mean that you have sunshine so it can't all be bad. It's bad enough when the helicopter is a 300 m over me let alone land right beside me.

    1. Red, it was a good day today. A bit cool and windy but reasonably dry.

  10. The noise from the search and rescue choppers practising near the house in Eagleton is bad enough. I've never had one land that close though: it would blow all the water out of my pond!

    1. Graham, I have seen dozens of them. I have even been crushed by one but I still find them exciting.

  11. I hope to never see a rescue helicopter that close. Or is that I hope never to see ... Rainbows, though, I can take plenty of. Today is not a good grammar day, feel free to laugh.

  12. Pauline, it's an excellent service for people in the remoter areas. Cameron was thinking of privatising it. But then few in remote areas vote for him. Few vote for him anywhere come to think of it.

  13. Gorgeous rainbow and reflection- that's a rare one! I would have needed a good wind to dry my britches too if that monster had set down by me!

    1. John, so are mine if i take them in strong sunlight. I try and get them early on. Then dodge the clouds and increase Vibrance. It doesn't affect the primary colours but does lift the transitional bands.

    Un abrazo.

  17. Maybe you should claim a discount living next to what was an unknown airport when you arrived. Never seen the end of a rainbow before, thanks for that. Not so much a pot of gold then, more golden shores.

  18. Jay it brightened up a dull morning.
It is a rather large helicopter for the job.
