A BUNCH OF FLOWERS. (03/06/15)

It has been a supermarket morning so I can eat again. I went out bugging when I got back but after all the rain there is precious little about._V0G8700
I popped a little bouquet together, the yellow is gorse. the lilac is lilac and the white one I will guess is hogweed.

I did find this tiny Leaf Beetle; I think it is Gastrophysa viridula they are very variable in colour and this one had a bronze/green metallic sheen to it. I just got two shots before the wind blew it away.

It looks as if a new batch of St Mark’s flies have hatched this one has glued itself to the honeydew on a laurel bud.

Bibio marci these are both male St Mark’s flies. It is rare to see a female resting on leaves I don’t know why.
I’m playing about with my blog template so there is likely to be a bit of variation over the next few days.

    1. Linda, the beetle was all there was about. I'll see what else I can find later.

    1. Thanks Gillian, it is a work in progress. I now have to add a bit of HTML script. I'll do that tomorrow.

  7. Yes, it looks different here. I like the bouquet.

Many templates have a sort of slideshow option which means after you enlarge one you can hop to others without going back to the text and re-clicking. Right now, I forget how that option is activated, but it's something that you could look into as it can be handy.

    1. John, it's a light box feature. I dislike it as it really doesn't enlarge.

  8. You're quite a flower-arranger, Adrian. I'm impressed!

    1. Frances, I only have to arrange half the posy as it is on a first surface mirror. I was impressed as well.

  9. Brilliant all round Adria.
    Like the new layout.
Great bunch of flowers - your softer side showing.
Fabulous macro insect shots - you have really mastered this now.

    1. John, there is still another hour or so to go on this template.
Yes just displaying my feminine side.
I am getting used to when to click with macros. Hand held and flash is the way forward for me.

    1. Douglas, I suddenly realised that my old template had been so messed with over the years that it was becoming uneditable. I'm trying to be modern. It is a very smart little beetle.

    1. R.Mac, there isn't a bug here. They are different to beetles and flies.

  13. I'm not generally a great fan of looking at enlarged bugs, but even I have to say that the golden beetle is really beautiful. Good job!

  14. I've been away in cold and windy Scotland, where the internet access was virtually non-existent, Adrian, so have missed your blog for a couple of weeks.

Your flower-arranging skills are only surpassed by your photographic skills. Extremely impressive!

I love your beetle image too.

The new 'clean look' template looks great.

    Best wishes - - - - Richard

    Nice flower and reflections!

  16. No need to be so sexist Adrian! Of course you won't see female St Mark's flies resting on leaves as they have a lot of ironing to do!

    1. YP, I wonder where they iron, not something one can do whilst flying around. Not that I have any experience of ironing.

  17. Wish you hadn't shared your bouquet arranging trick. Even without the mirror it is impressive. Have fun with your new look.
